Ive come to the conclusion, after years of studying kashmir shaivism, and nondualism, that rejecting devotion, hinduisms idea of dharma, karma, their mythology, magic/the occult, jyotish is the way.. Kashmir shaivism is not like Christianity where you need to express faith in god for salvation.

While people in Kashmir shaivism believe we are the substrate of reality- no one truly believes, unless they are psychotic, narcissistic, or deluded that they have god powers or their jiva can sway the universe to their will.. it has never been demonstrated by a master/swami.

I would say, the best way to approach this  tradition, is to say, “there is no proof, there is only the “subjective feeling” or experience of being one being contracting itself. If the will of god is everything, if all things are gods will, and god reveals itself by his own will, then it would also be my will to be uncontracted, by living in the here and now- no accounting for astrology, no accounting for an after life, no accounting for the supernatural.. Just living in the present as fervently and dynamically as possible.. as if you have one life.. which is all you can ever prove.
I wish god to uncontract and prove itself to this jiva, spontaneously (the highest upaya being no means.. anavopaya, anyway), without any bhakti, other than the devotion to life given.

If god is real, in the hindu/tantric/ks sense, then I would reincarnate and have another chance. If god in this sense isn’t real.. well, then id be wasting my time, wasting my mental resources on something that has no meaning, other than wishful thinking and I wasted the one life I had.

The best way is to deal with life like kant, an enlightenment rationalist, or a radical skeptic, and also, morally; unambiguous as ks can be.. a eudaimonist, utilitarian, anti quietest, endorser- focused on becoming happy via methods that yield strong prediction.. biology/biopsych, evolutionary psychology etc and engage in the world scientifically.

Also, a major component of ks and the means to attainment, is via rasa, and aesthetics.

If one can achieve an upaya via aesthetics, ecstasy through music, sex, art etc, why not merely use useful meditative methods as a tool and try engaging a constant stream of bliss without the fluff? The unfalsifiable? In which can be explained more easily with empiricism and things more aligned with occams razor and in which crumbles these under scrutiny?

In a similar light to chaos magick, but not labeling it as such.. using tools from traditions but divorcing beliefs that come as an addendum.

Wouldn’t the most beautiful, honest and practical method of ks, be that one should believe they will be rewarded and want to be (being apparently they are the supreme) for radical skepticism, engaging in the here and now, and asking to be liberated that way, if their god is real?
